Mid-April Updates and Reminders 2013
VMCI Workday Tomorow

Our Spring Work Day was rained out on March 23 and will be rescheduled for April 20. However, before the rains closed in, Steve Pfister (Grounds Chair) coordinated distribution of pine straw throughout the property as well as fresh mulch for the playground. It looks great! Thanks in advance for helping to keep VMCI one of the most beautiful clubs in Dunwoody!
Swim Team Sign Ups

Hi Everyone,
We are excited about the summer season of Village Mill Swim Team. We wanted to send you an email with all the important information about the season before registration. This is a long email, but it has a lot of information!

Swim Team registration was re-scheduled for Sunday, April 21 from 2-4 at the pool. At registration, you can purchase new team suits and spirit wear, in addition to meeting the coaches and signing up for the season. If you want to register before April 21st, or you can't make registration, you can drop the attached form off to Katie Frame at 1935 Olde Village Run, 30338. There is a plastic container next to the garage door where you can leave the paperwork and a check made payable to VMCI.

Please let us know if you have any questions about registration, we are looking forward to a great season. Also, please be forward this to anyone that is interested and not on the list.

Cathy & Katie

Registration
This Sunday, Apri1 21, 2-4pm.

If you can help, please email us. If you can't make it to registration, don't worry, you can still register your child. Drop the form off to Katie Frame at 1935 Olde Village Run.

Junior Swim Team
Junior swim team will use the same format as last season. We ask that all participants have some swim experience and jr. swim will be used as a progression of swim skills and a prep for our regular swim team. If you would like your children to learn how to swim, they are more than welcome to contact Cheri for private lessons, she will have a schedule outside of swim team to accomodate any lesson desires.

ASA registration
League registration can be completed by visiting atlantaswimming.com and clicking on the online registration link. You can use your username and password from last season's registration to access your account information and register for this season. **This is separate from our team registration and must be completed in order for your child to be entered into a meet. Junior swim team members do not need to register here, it is only for swimmers participating in meets.**

Spirit Wear and Suits
We are selling suits at registration. It is the same suit as last year and we will have samples available for everyone to try on. In addition, we will again offer the $10 spirit wear credit per swimmer to purchase Village Mill Spirit wear. Samples will be available on April 21st for sizing, etc.

Strawberry Festival

Strawberry Image
Mark your calendars for Strawberry Festival coming up on June 1st! If anyone is interested in volunteering some of their time on that day please contact Erin Barrett or Sheila Greear. Some of the committees needing volunteers are: food sales, kids art, kids market, bake sale, directory/VMNA dues table, ticket table and set up/clean up.

Please also start thinking about items that you can donate for the silent auction. Great items would be event tickets, vacation houses, gift cards, services you can offer, golf rounds, etc.

Children's raffle items are being collected now, too. Look through your gift closet and be on the look out for great bargains you can pick up to donate. Donations can be dropped off at Erin's home, 1952 Peeler Rd., or Sheila's home, 4863 Village Creek Dr.

Strawberry Festival is Village Mill's big annual fundraiser and the money raised this year will go toward the cost of new signs for the entrances, which are badly needed. Let's all make the event a great success!

4th of July VeteransBows
Honor Our Veterans

The time is approaching for you to honor family members who have served or are now serving in the military. This has been a Village Mill tradition for many years.Bows should be displayed on mailboxes fromJune 28ththrough July 5th.

Take a moment and reflect on who you would like to honor if you yourself have not served. A grandfather who served in World War II? An uncle who was drafted after graduation from high school? A great aunt who served as a nurse in Korea? If you wish to honor more than one person, two bows will fit on most mailboxes.

The Veterans Bows are $5 and color coded by branch of service: Green for Army, red for Marine Corps, dark blue for Navy or Coast Guard and light blue for Air Force. All bows contain yellow ribbon, the international color for peace.

There will be a booth set up to sell Veterans Bows at the Strawberry Festival on June 1stfrom 10am-1pm. You can also contact Julian Black at770-396-5997to order your bows early.

Village Mill Military Bow History:Our long time neighbor,Bob Keesee, started and managed this program for a number of years. Bob passed away in 2011 andJulian Blackaccepted the honor to continue this tradition. Our neighbor,Susan West, has been the expert Veterans Bow maker for a number of years. Thank you Susan for the nice work.
