Takura Musungwa, Tennis Arukat Academy

Born in Zimbabwe, Takura started playing tennis at the age of 10 and began coaching at the age of 20.  He lived in London,England, where he played and coached tennis at Next Generations Tennis Club and in Glasgow, Scotland, where he worked at the world famous David Lloyds Sports and Leisure Centre before moving to Atlanta where he coached at Riverside Tennis Club under Brian De Villiers.

He took a four-year tennis research tour of Europe where he coached at one of the biggest clubs in Berlin, Germany, Havellandhalle Sports Centre for two and one-half years under Peter Dietrich (Vic Braden methods). He spent the other year and one-half learning and observing the way pros teach and run tennis academies/clubs in France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Belgium, Spain, Poland and Netherlands.  He moved back to Atlanta and now directs the TAA Program. He holds the following tennis qualifications:
  • United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Pro 1
  • United States Tennis Association (USTA) Sports Science Level I
  • United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR)
  • International Tennis Federation (ITF) Level II
  • Tennis Association of Zimbabwe (TAZ)

Takura has a passion for and great experience with grassroots tennis.  He has worked with high performance players as high as top 100 in the ATP and WTA world rankings.  He has helped countless number of players earn full-ride US college tennis scholarships.  He has attended numerous seminars and courses on technique, singles and doubles strategies, physical conditioning, mental toughness, club management, health and nutrition including speakers like Nick Bollettieri, Patrick McEnroe, Jim Loehr, Feisal Hassan, Rick Macci, Tom Daglis, Joe Dinoffer and many more.
